Kaorinite was Doctor Tomoe's first heart crystal gatherer. She would take the newly born Daemon eggs and create the monsters on the spot. She didn't hang around often once the Sailor Scouts showed up and she always failed in her missions. During a fight with the Sailor Senshi's and Tuxedo Mask, Kaorinite fell from the Tokyo Tower and was presumed dead. Doctor Tomoe, for reasons unclear, brought her back to life and made her his secretary and personal assisstant. The new Kaorinite, known as Kaori, was more quiet and meek. She was desparately in love with Doctor Tomoe and did everything she could think of to please him. Doctor Tomoe's daughter Hotaru despised Kaori and Kaori always had something mean spirited to say to Hotaru. Kaori was also intensely jealous of the Witches 5 and when Doctor Tomoe suggested that she return to the feild she knew this was her chance to show them up once and for all. Kaori kidnapped Rini and brought her to Doctor Tomoe and the Messiah of Silence. When the Messiah swallowed Rini's heart crystal she transformed into Mistress 9. Although Doctor Tomoe congratulated Kaori on her success Mistress 9, or perhaps Hotaru, had decided that she had outlived her usefullness. Mistress 9 threw Kaori into an electrifying forcefeild. Dying Kaori saw that Doctor Tomoe didn't even look around.
